What was Henry VIII like?

Henry VIII was the youngest son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. He was spoiled as a child because his brother, Arthur, was heir to the throne. That changed when Arthur died as a teenager. Henry was then pushed into the role of his dead brother. Henry married his brothers widow Catherine of Aragon not long after his fathers death and the two were crowned at Westminster. As a young king he was thin, athletic, very intelligent, and red headed. Henry had a love for sports including tennis, jousting, and hunting. Henry was fluent in French, Latin, and Spanish. He had many horses, dogs, and falcons. And was also a lover of music and poetry.Henry went to war several times through out his reign. Mostly with France and Scotland. He increased the British Navy from 5 ships to 53 ships.Henry is most remembered for his liasons and wives. Henry married 6 times. He beheaded two wives, divorced two wives, one died, and one survived.Henry also created the Church of England when the Pope refused to grant him a divorce from Catherine on the basis that it had never been valid.Henry was in desperate need for a male heir and that as most of his reasoning for his divorces. He ended up having one illigetament son, Henry Fitzroy. Two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. And one son, Edward. Henry Fitzroy would die of the sweat as a child. And all three other children inherited the throne. None of which would have any children of there own.Henry was said to have had several other children out of wedlock but never chose to acknowledge them.To some, Henry VIII was a strong and ruthless ruler. An opposing opinion would be that Henry the 8th was a fat, blood thirsty man as he killed two of his wives and many of his friends.

Where did Henry VII come from?

He was English. He was a descendant of Edward III through his son John Duke of Lancaster.. John had children with Katherine Swynford (whose brother in law was Geoffrey Chaucer) and Henry's mother was a great granddaughter of theirs. His father also had Royal blood in him. His grandmother was Catherine of Valois (the daughter of a King of France) who had been the wife of Henry V. After Henry V died she secretly married Owen Tudor and had five children with him. Catherine's son Henry IV ennobled his half brother who was the father of Henry VII.
