Cortes wanted to be more famous than his father, and to get there he decided to explore.
Francisco Pizzaro, Hernando Cortez, Francisco Vasquez de Coronado, Juan Ponce de Leon, Hernando de Soto, and Vasco Núñez de Balboa. This is probably more than you need, but here they are anyway. Hope this helps!
A Spanish Explorer, named Hernando Cortes set foot in the Aztec empire in 1519. His expedition was to set across the land to find gold and bring the treasures to Spain. He conquered surrounding civilizations such as theTectonacs and Tlaxcalans. This may of been why he was able to defeat the Aztecs, as they were a very powerful empire. He also ruled parts of Mexico .

Only two of Cortes men died and about 5,000 natives died that day in the battle.after that Cortes moved up north and fought more natives. Later Cortes was given about 200,000 to 300,000 men from different native tribes. Later on in 1519, Cortes and his 300,000 men attacked the capital city of the Aztecs called Tenochtitlan. I don't know how Cortes defeated the Aztecs if the Aztecs have over 2 million men, but he did. Later on, Cortes and other Spain armies took over Peasant Day Mexico, US, Middle Americas and the whole content of South America but Brazil.
He came from Europe down up and around than landed in Florida a look in South East America.
Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes' accomplishments were more political than cartographic. He mostly worked to conquer the Aztec empire and bring Mexico under Spanish control, which he did successfully.
Hernando de Soto Explored Tennessee in 1541. Did you know Hernando and his men planted a Spanish flag on the banks of the Mississippi River then just left and no other people went on their teritory for more than a century later?
The spanish did. But smallpox killed more Aztecs than the spanish musketeers. Hernan Cortes led the spanish to the Aztecs.

In July 1519, Cortes deliberately burned and sank, or scuttled, his ten ships. Cortes knew that the impending campaign would be difficult, and he didn't want any of his men to mutiny and try to flee on their own. His message sent Cortes led an army of 1,000 Spanish and Indian allies into the mountains and jungles. As Cortes's army defeated Indian warriors and sacked several towns, Montezuma sent gifts, promising to pay tribute if the Spanish left the Aztec Empire. Cortes defied the emperor and by November, Cortes and his ragged army stood before the gates of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital and home to more than 60,000 people, a population larger than that in any Spanish city at the time.At first, Montezuma and Cortes exchanged cordial greetings. Cortes and his men were stunned by the magnificence of the city, but they were also horrified by the Aztec religion, which sacrificed humans in rituals. When one ofMontezuma's chiefs attacked a Spanish garrison, Cortes took Montezuma prisoner and forced him to acknowledge the Spanish king as his lord. When Cortes tried to change the Aztec temples into Christian churches, warfare broke out. Montezuma was killed, and Cortes and his men were forced to flee Tenochtitlan. Cortes raised an army and returned to lay siege to the great city.On August 13, 1521, the Aztecs, starving and weakened by disease introduced by the Europeans, surrendered. Cortes was made governor and captain general of Nuevo Espana (New Spain), and established Mexico City on the ruins of Tenochtitlan.
