Yes, he stated many times in his writings and speeches that he was a Christian and that he believed he was doing the work of Christ.

"My feeling as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded only by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God's truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter." - speech delivered by Hitler at Munich 12 April 1922

"I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord.." - Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler

The only quotes attributed to him that are negative toward Christianity are all found in a single source, the book Hitler's Table Talk, which is a mistranslation and not historically accurate. For instance, the English version of the book says "Our epoch will certainly see the end of the disease of Christianity", implying that Hitler considers Christianity a disease. In reality, the original German said "It is the law of life: Defend yourself! The time in which we live has the appearance of the collapse of this idea." Obviously, the version in which he criticizes Christianity is a complete fabrication.

Other answers from our community:No, although he most certainly claimed to be one, along with many other things such as that he was satisfied with Czechoslovakia and did not want any more territory. His statements about Christianity indicate he radically re-interpreted it to suit his own ends, and to paint himself as a type of savior or Messiah of Germany, as well as to justify his antisemitism, which others have unjustifiably done both before and since.

The facts are that he and his kind sought to systematically and efficiently destroy Christianity, since they knew that no Christian would agree with their policy. A large amount of evidence regarding his anti-Christian policy was collected by Nuremberg prosecutors.

"Hitler seeking power, wrote in Mein Kampf. "... I am convinced that I am acting as the agent of our Creator. By fighting off the Jews. I am doing the Lord's work." Years later, when in power, he quoted those same words in a Reichstag speech in 1938. " - - "Three years later he informed General Gerhart Engel: "I am now as before a Catholic and will always remain so." He never left the church, and the church never left him. Great literature was banned by his church, but his miserable Mien Kampf never appeared on the Index of Forbidden Books." by; John Patrick Michael Murphy - -

"In later life, Hitler often praised the Christian heritage, German culture, and a belief in Christ. In his speeches and publications Hitler even spoke of Christianity as a central motivation for his antisemitism, stating that "As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice".[

"Among Christian denominations, Hitler favoured Protestantism, which was more open to such reinterpretations. At the same time, he adopted some elements of the Catholic Church's hierarchical organization, liturgy and phraseology in his politics.[88][89] - -

Hitler said many things in his life that were simply untrue. Some people who were gullible, and many who were afraid of the consequences, were taken in and believed him or said they did. What Hitler said about the Christian faith indicates the wide gulf between what he believed and the key elements of Christianity. In any case, the question relates to evidence and Hitlers own words would probably be one evidence to be disregarded immediately, unless one wishes to prove that he didn't understand true Christianity.

His murderous actions speak volumes. There is no need for any other evidence.

The key words in this question are, "true Christian". Regardless of what Hitler said at different times in his life, both for and against Christianity (so let's not be selective), no one would really consider Hitler a true Christian.

It would certainly be offensive to use claims about what Hitler's true beliefs may or may not have been to pillory either Christians or atheists.

Nominally Hitler was a Roman Catholic but it is doubtful that he seriously believed in Christ. Hitler didn't have much love for the church anyway so most likely it can be said that he didn't believe in Christ.

We will probably never really know the answer, but Hitler certainly never behaved as we believe a good Christian should behave. For a very good site that looks at evidence as to whether he was Christian, atheist or neither, see the link below. The author says that he thinks that Hitler was not an atheist, but he was not a Christian either. Whatever the answer, a single person should not be used to prove the righteousness of Christians or others. We are all individuals.
