French inventor, Joseph Niepce, was born on March 7, 1765 and passed away on July 5, 1833 at the age of 68. Niepce is credited with inventing photography as well as the first internal combustion engine.
On a summer day in 1827, Joseph Nicephore Niepce made the first photographic image with a camera obscura. Louis Daguerre was the inventor of the first practical process of photography. In 1829, he formed a partnership with Joseph Nicephore Niepce to improve the process Niepce had developed. In 1839 after several years of experimentation and Niepce's death, Daguerre developed a more convenient and effective method of photography, naming it after himself - the daguerreotype.

Joseph Niepce took the world's first photograph in 1826.
well Joseph Niepce didnt really invent a process of any really he just made the first basic camera then took a picture
The first to try to fix the images on the camera obscura by chemical means were the brothers Joseph Nicephore and Claude Niepce, officers in the French army and navy respectively, while stationed at Cagliari, capital of Sardinia, in 1793. Towars the close of the eighteenth century Thomas Wedgwood, and amateur scientist, conceived independently the same idea. The world's first successful photograph was taken by Nicephore Niepce on a pewter plate in 1826, using his first professionally-made camera supplied by the Parisian optician Charles Chevalier. The first person to use the camera was its inventor, Alexander Wolcott. His first camera model was created in the year 1840.
Photography was first done by a Frenchman by name Joseph Nicephore Niepce in the year 1827 with the help of the device known as obscura or pinhole. Niepce was not responsible for the invention of the camera obscura. In fact Obscura was used by others as a viewfinder or tool for drawing. But he used it first for the purpose of creating a photographic image. At that time people called his productions as "heliographs" because sunlight was used to draw them.
The first known photograph was taken in 1825 by "Niecphore Niepce." however the camera obscura and pinhole cameras were developed before that, they just had no way of recording the image that was produced. Look up "Niecphore Niepce" in Wikipedia.com for more information
