Did us steal Texas from Mexico?

The U.S did not steal Texas from Mexico because when Texas gained their independence they became a nation, The Republic of Texas. Texas knew that Mexico was trying to get Texas back so they decided to join the United States. The United States then Annexed Texas to become one of the U.S States. However the documents Santa Anna signed to give Independence to Texas were null and void. The reason being was that because Santa Anna was a prisoner of war he no longer was in charge of Mexico so any promises made were not valid. Santa Anna knew this and so he signed the treaty to be released. The only problem was then that the United States Annexed The Republic of Texas. However other issues came up regarding the border of Texas which Mexico did not agree to. This began the Mexican-American. And the U.S used the war to take Mexico's territory Which consists of California, Oregon,Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. So with that being said U.S never stole Texas but the Republic of Texas never truthfully gained their independence. It was more like the Settlers took Texas from Mexico to hand it over to the U.S.

Why did Stephen F Austin come to Texas?

He wanted to bring the first colony to Texas. he is an agent hired (not the spy kind of agent more like businessmen) by Mexico to bring in settlers to Mexico especially from America. in exchange, Mexico would give the settlers land, but they must become Mexican citizens, follow Mexican law, and become catholic.

What are the reasons why the Texans declared Independence from the Mexican American War?

Texas was previously under the power of Mexico's dictator, Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. the Texonians already wanted to be free from Mexico, but what sealed the deal was the settlers in America wanting to expand their land, leaving Texas with the hope of being accepted by America as one of their states. even though Andrew Jackson (Americas president at the time) didn't want to annex Texas because of the chances of firing up any more conflicts between Mexico and America, the people of the US urged Texas to become independent so that it COULD be annexed to the united states.

What did the peace treaty after the Mexican war give the united States?

The whole states of California, Nevada, Utah and Texas, as well as parts of Wyoming, Colorado, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico and Kansas. At the end of the Mexican-American War (1846-1848) Mexico lost present-day California, Nevada, Utah, part of Colorado as well as most of northern New Mexico and Arizona. Also at the end of the war Mexico was forced to cease any attempt on reclaiming Texas, which at the time included present-day Texas, as well as those parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado and Wyoming described above. This is also known as the Mexican Cession (1848).

What was the treaty that ended the Texas Revolution?

Actually, it never ended. Santa Anna was forced to sign the Treaties of Velasco , but that had no validity because Santa Anna never had authority to give away part of Mexico to begin with, and he was removed from office before the signing anyway. So legally, Texas still belongs to Mexico.

The reason why they fought each other is because Texas wanted to be independent from Mexico, because most of the Texans were Americans that moved. They revolted because Mexico only allowed them to be Catholic, and most of the settlers were Protestant.
