Absolutely. Religion was 'invented' before world trade probably so it only works for people with the same belief system, once those different religions clash and have differing views on either realworld events or arbritrary books which their whole religion is based on then there is tension. As long as there is religion there is absolutely no chance of harmony in world (not that there would be anyway)
In short religion holds locals and its worshipers together while pushing the world as a whole apart.
A good example of this is whats going on in Gazza at the moment, the underlying route cause of that is differing Religious views.
All religion teaches "Love one another". But apparently followers idolizes their religion more than the teachings. Follows their religious teachers fanatically and asserts that their own religion or denomination is the true translation of whatever holy scriptures they use. No religion ever unites people. Even in any particular religion, may it be Judaism, Christianity, Islam, etc., they divide themselves into different denominations. So what will unite people? Allow me to relate to you a conversation between me and my Brother-in-law (BiL). BiL: "People of the world will probably unite if some aliens (if they exist) will attack earth." Me; "I agree. But after we repulse the ET attackers, what will happen next?" After a moment of silence, my BiL answered; BiL: "then we kill each other again.."
Religion has both united and divided people. Religion has united people from various continents of the same faith. On the other hand, extremists have used religion to divide people who do not subscribe to their teachings.
It does both, really. It alienates. People of a given faith are typically united with others of that faith, and often (although subtlely) it is around agreement on the accepted tabboos as much as agreement on the specifics of the faith. But if you are not a member of that faith, then barriers exist and typically get stronger. So religion can unite people who are in the 'In Crowd', and divide people who are in different 'In Crowds'.
Every religion claims that he is right and others are wrong. Islam is the belief in One God, Allah (swt), the Creator of all things. Islam doesn't believe in the "middleman" fallacy as the case with many religions including Christianity. In Christianity, to be saved you have to believe in Jesus (as) as the Son of God, and without such confession and belief in Jesus, you're most definitely going to Hellfire. Islam, on the other hand, declares that believing in One God, Allah (swt) and that Mohammad is His messenger, and obeying God's laws and His prophet's doctrine is the only passport to Heaven Such divisions arose, the Qur'an points out, because of undue selfishness, transgression, aggression and mutual jealousy (al-Baqarah 2:213; Al 'Imran 3:19). The Qur'an also points out that these divisions arose among people when they ignored the word of Allah and His guidance and "sold Allah's words for a paltry price"(al-Baqarah 2:79), when they went to extremes (ghuluww) in their religion, when they corrupted Allah's message (tahrif), when they consigned some part of it to oblivion, or when they took one part of Allah's teachings and ignored the other. Each group divided up Allah's messages and instead of following the knowledge (al-'ilm) that was given to them by Allah's prophets, they followed their own whims and wishes (ahwa'). Thus some evil religious leaders went astray and also misled their followers (al-Baqarah 2:120, 121; al-Ma'idah 5:177; Al-An'am 6:119; al-Rum 30:29; al-Jathiyah 45:18; Muhammad 47:14, 16) The Qur'an makes us fully aware that there are a variety of religious communities, each happy with its own version of the truth (al-Mu'minun 23:53; al-Rum 30:32). They all possess some truth which is a part of the true Islam in their midst, but regrettably none of them has preserved the message of Allah in its complete and authentic form (al-Ma'idah 5:13-14). Allah sent Prophet Muhammad to guide humanity to the original and authentic faith and the message of Allah. There is both unity and diversity among world religions. There are many areas in which religions agree and there are also serious theological, philosophical and practical differences among them. It is not true to say that all these differences do not matter and everything eventually leads to the same end. http://islamdoor.com/
Although religion in general tends to divide mankind, the worship of the only true God has the power to unite people. When Israel was God's chosen nation, many sincere Gentiles were attracted to true worship. For example, Ruth abandoned the gods of her native Moab and said to Naomi: "Your people will be my people, and your God my God." Ruth 1:16. By the first century C.E., a large number of Gentiles had become worshipers of the true God. Acts 13:48, 17:4. Later when Jesus' apostles began traveling to distant places with the good news, other sincere people were united in the worship of the true God.
in a relationship maby if yours are different knowing people in the situation but many times it can bring you together
concentration is independent from religion
"From" really shouldn't be used when describing one's religion. You can be "from" Cleveland or "from" Europe. But you can't be "from" Christianity or Hinduism. You are "of" (a member of, part of) the religion.
The Romans were tolerant of people who had different religions from the Roman religion. As long as the foreign religion did not advocate revolution or immorality and the people paid their taxes, the Romans let them worship as they wanted. The Romans were tolerant of people who had different religions from the Roman religion. "many people have different religions"
No you can not say that. As people have different religions and faiths.
Yes, because of the land and free religion many different people of many different religions lived there.
My parents are both of different religions and it is absolutley not a problem. In the religions present in Albania people believe in one God and he is the same no matter the religion.
There was not really a religion... In America there were so many different religions.
There are many hundereds of varietys of religions in Africa. Amongst the may different tribes are many different religions.
well if there were no religions people would all believe different things but there wouldn't be a religion for that bielief.
In public schools in the United States, religion is generally not taught as a part of the curriculum to avoid promoting or favoring any specific religion. However, in countries with different education systems, a variety of religions may be taught, with the focus often depending on the dominant religion or cultural context of the region. Some private schools or religious schools may offer education on specific faith traditions.
To say that Religion is there to divide us is like saying food preference, or any choice-based thing is there to divide us. First of all, religions were started by several different people and groups, so if it was only there to divide us, these people and groups (which span over thousands of years) would have had to agree "Hey, lets divide everyone by making different religions". Not likely, in fact, impossible. Religion, and any kind of belief system or preference, CAN divide us, and oftentimes we allow it to, however it is no more at fault than is our skin colors. The truth is, humans often LOOK to be divided from "those people" because we are afraid of what is different, and we can't bare the thought of being wrong, so we battle against people, thoughts ad things which are in contrast to our own ways of doing life. in closing, t say religion is there to divide us also inadvertently subscribes to the thought that there is a higher power whose purpose is to divide people. We divide ourselves quite fine without a deity helping us. If religion didn't exist, we would divide ourselves shot people from tall people, fat people from skinny people, et cetera. Humans can be dumb like that.
