Yes, because it first happened in Puerto Rico ( I think ) and came over to America years later. The depression made Puerto Rico turn to America for help. Many people lost their jobs and " sat on sidewalks " waiting for the depression to end.
Other people say in the book " Uncle Jed's Barbershop " that the people from the bank came to Sarah Jean's house and told Jed the bank had failed " Jed wasn't angry... he just said " " Well, I guess I will just have to start all over " said Uncle Jed.
That was the beginning of The Great Depression.
