Joseph Smith, considered the first prophet of this dispensation by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the 'Mormon" church) was arrested twice and murdered while awaiting trail at Carthage Jail in Illinois.

John Taylor was the third president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church), but his middle name was not Joseph. He converted to Mormonism six years after it began, so he wasn't one of the original leaders, but he was an early leader. I couldn't find any record of a John Joseph Taylor being an early leader in the Mormon Church.
Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum were murdered while awaiting trail in the jail at Carthage, Illinois. A large, armed anti-Mormon mob stormed the jail, shooting into the upstairs bedroom where a handful of Mormon leaders, including Joseph and Hyrum, were staying. The trial was regarding Joseph (as governor of Nauvoo) ordering an anti-Mormon newspaper to cease publication in order to preserve the public peace.
Joseph Smith, Jr. was a religious leader, and founder of the Latter Day Saint movement. He's also well-known as the author of the Book of Mormon.

God, Jesus Christ. But instead they call a prophet of god to lead the Mormon church on earth. Very careing loving men. we love are phrophet. The lord always makes sure there is a prophet.
