No: The UK, principally, became united as a result of the fact that there was no issue from the descendants of the offspring of King Hery VIII (The end of the Tudor dynasty) therefore England & Scotland were united under a Stuart king (James I) The last time Britain was invaded by a foreign power was 1066 when the Normans arrived from France.

But there's a big difference between revolution and invasion. The UK has only got smaller as a result of revolutions.
