Look up the Missouri compromise. the so called 36/30', the compromise of 1850, the Kansas /Nebraska Act, the Wilmont proviso, the Dredd Scott decision, the rise of the republican party, the election leading to 1960 ( Lincoln).. Ft. Sumpter. Also the difference between the north and the south, South agricultural, north industrial, more people in the north, better transportation system, better education, underground rail roads, abolitionists, Uncle Tom's cabin and finally states rights Vs central government.
