In the early days of the country, it was not just the southern colonies that welcomed slavery; slave-owners lived in other colonies, including the middle-Atlantic region, such as in Delaware. Even Massachusetts had some evidence of slavery, although not for very long.

Yes, and the first slaves arrived in the colony of Virginia in 1622. The British Empire abolished slavery in 1833. They did not, however, end their policies of occupying by force if necessary the nations and millions of people world wide until the end of WW2 and even to 1999 re: Hong Kong.

Yes. Virginia was a major importer of slaves. There are still many plantations in Virginia that are now museums. One such is called Shirley Plantation in Jamestown.

Yes, there were slaves everywhere throughout American. It isn't until the mid 19th century that we start seeing some western states being inducted into the union with slavery illegal.
