Did the local service center damage my 2002 regal V6 last summer by putting in 5-30 oil instead of the required 10-30 oil Our temps exceed 100 degrees for 3 months and they changed the oil 3 times.?

I would probly say they didnt damage the engine. You kept the oil fresh, and changed more frequent then even recomended. Just make sure in the future, they use the apopriate oil. The factory has since said that 5w30 is the preferred oil because it flows quicker during start up. The number you need to worry about for hot weather is the second number which in your case is the 30. The first number is the rating when cold. Regardless of where you live, you want the oil to flow well when cold. Our dealership uses only 5w30 in all of our gm vehicles, even the ones that say 10w30 on the fill cap.
