Yes, but only during WWII.The correct answer is no! The only companys assigned to M-1 Carbine production during World War II were,Inland division of General Motors,Winchester repeating Arms Company,Underwood Elliot-Fisher,Quality Hardware&Machine Co,Rock-Ola Music Co,Irwin Pederson,Saginaw Gear(Grand Rapids),Saginaw Gear(Saginaw),National Postal Meter,Standard Products, and International Business Machine Co.(IBM).
Between September 1943 and May 1944.Most M-1 Carbines are selling for between 600-850 dollars on todays market if they are all original World War II manufacture and in decent shape.
M1 Carbine Or M1 Garand
It was phased out of service fully in the mid-1970s, when the US government announced that the M16 was going to be adopted as a standard small arm (previously, it was intended to be used exclusively as a jungle rifle). The M16 effectively replaced the M14 rifle, M1 Garand rifle (in the case of some National Guard units which still fielded it in the 1970s), M1 carbine, and M3 submachinegun (in most roles).
The US supplied T28 Trojan (Trainers) single engine airplanes; A1 Skyraider attack airplanes; M1 Garand rifles and M1 carbines (which they liked alot better!), and among a whole list of material, the US supplied them with M113 APCs which they converted into light tanks. GIs called them ACAVs (Armored Cavalry Assault Vehicles). In addition, the US supplied the South Viet army with M41 Walker Bulldog light tanks...a far better tank than the M24 Chaffee light tank that they had been equipped with.
The M1 Garand, the M1917 Springiled rifle, and the M1 carbine. [Note: that is incorrect. These were the weapons used in WW2, not WW1]
No.
It should if it fits on other kinds of M1 Carbines.
Sorry, but know of no public database for these rifles. Generally they are not in the same database as military M1 carbines.
Universals are a civilian version of the M1 carbine, made after WW 2. No serial number data is available for the civilian carbines- sorry.
No, they weren't.
The Standard Model of the Universal Carbine is about $200-$225, depending on condition. These were post WW 2 civilian made versions of the M1 Carbine. SOME will interchange parts with GI carbines, some will not. They do not have the collector's value of the military issue carbines.
Non firing replica M1 and M1(A1) Carbines are made by Hudson, airsoft Carbines are Made by Marushin, they go for around $300.
Uncertain of your question. M1 Carbines made by Universal may have a lever that locks the bolt to the rear. If this does not answer your question, please post a message on my message board, and we will try to help. c3shooter
IBM was one of the makers of M1 Carbines- along with companies that made postage meters and juke boxes.
The Inland Division of GM made M1 Carbines, but did not make M1 Garands (in 30-06)
Value of ANY firearm is based on exact make, model, condition and originality. Original military M1 carbines are selling for around $700 and up in good condition. Some scarce makers are more. Civilian clones, such as the Universal brand are less.
All military M1 Carbines were made between 1941 and 1945.
