ISDN make a separation between user data and voice,in ISDN there are two type of channels, D Channels and B channel, there ability is different, in bandwidth and they have different type of combination, D channel has 16 Kbps bit and it used for controlling, but B channel have 64 Kbps its used for actual transfer of user data many variation of combination between D and B channels but the basic equation where (2B+d) which means too data channel plus one control and that known as BRI (basic Rate Interface) its normally user for home uses, another combination is PRI (Primary Rate Interface) which use more than two B channel plus single D channel this type used for business solution, There are different combination to these channels in most of countries like in Europe they make combination on B+D equivalent to E1(2048)Mbps, in US Equivalent to T1 (1.544 )Mbps, but in OSI this is the responsibility of transport layer to recognize the physical capacity and isolate that from upper layers by making framing to big amount of data to smaller one and put controls to let image transport layer in destination notice that, OSI have seven layer, and all those layer are active instead ISDN is reach only third Layer (network layer), OSI is connection less protocol and it depends in HDLC which is packet protocol technique, instead ISDN built up X.25 which is connection oriented in sense of VC (virtual circuit), ISDN basically make a distinction between user data and voice cause is based on subscriber or telephony system, but OSI make mixture of data stream by using transport layer and it manage to hide the l, in than layer there is a multiplexing process for session layer to make all those distinct process (user application) transfer in one virtual connection and to be controlled via transport layer. ISDN (RM) have thee palnes user managment and control palnes but OSI (RM) have only one planes user palne in ISDN equivelant to signaling use plane in OSI , manament and those are the basic deference's

RM= Reference Model.
