In CTAB method,SEVAG is used to breakdown the tissues in the extracted leaves. While in dellaporta method, the SDS and POTASSIUM ACETATE are used.

In CTAB method BLUECAP/TEST TUBES are used, while in dellaporta method the EMPENDORFS are mostly used.ICE COLD ETHANOL is used mostly in the CTAB method for resuspension, while in dellaporta method ISOPROPANOL is used.

What is the difference between CTAB and SDS method?

This refers to the type of detergent used to lyse cell membranes when extracting DNA from cells. SDS=Sodium dodecyl sulfate, CTAB=Cetyl trimethylammonium bromide

What is the importance of ctab buffer?

Alternative for octanol in ctab method?

You can use Isoamyl alcohol instead of octanol. both of them are anti-foaming agents and facilitate separation of phases after centifugation.

Isolation of genomic DNA from groundnut leaves?

Hello, Its very simple, u can go for the CTAB method , with bit modification, 1) Ensure the youngest possible leaves, very tender enough to crush. 2) Crush the leaf sample in liquid nitrogen. 3) add quickly CTAB buffer to the crushed isolate immediately. 4) the follow Rapid method of isolation.

Why use CTAB in DNA isolation?

The CTAB extraction procedure is from Rogers and Bendich (1986). The magic bullet is supposed to be the separation of polysaccharides from nucleic acids by the use of CTAB. The technique capitalizes on the previous observations that nucleic acids can be selectively precipitated with CTAB. RNA and DNA are soluble in CTAB and 0.7 M NaCl but precipitate when the salt is reduced below 0.4 M. However, many polysaccharides are insoluble over this salt range and are thus not solubilized. CTAB is NOT used to lyse membranes in this procedure.

Role of ctab in the lysis of cell membrane?

none

Role of CTAB in DNA isolation?

It sequester carbohydrates in the solution

What is CTAb?

CTAB is a buffer used in genetics to lyse (break down) the cell wall and membrane systems in a plant cell to allow DNA out of the nucleus so it can be studied. D-Train

What does ctab use for isolation of DNA from animal blood?

CTAB is a detergent used to denature proteins from samples. Once the protens have been denatures, the isolation of DNA from the non required waste materials can begin.

What is theFunction of chloroform in ctab method for DNA extraction?

Chloroform denaturizes the proteins and facilitates the separation of the aqueous and organic phase. If needed the extraction with chloroform is performed two or three times to completely remove the impurities from aqueous layer..

Why is CTAB better at denaturing lysozyme than SDS?

CTAB is a cationic detergent. It is generally considered to be less denaturing than SDS. It is typically used when it is desired to maintain enzymatic activity. It is also typically used in protein refolding.

What is the function of CTAB?

C-TAB is a detergent that helps lyse the cell membrane, however it is pretty poor with denaturing proteins so something with a longer tail is usually used for extraction.
