CDA stands for a number of things. Always spell out the abbreviations so there is no doubt. That being said, I will assume you are referring to the Child Development Associate, the CDA Credential awarded to those in the Early Care & Education by The Council for Professional Recognition to work with Infants, Toddlers, or Preschoolers. If the credits are college level courses taken at a college or university that has a regional accreditation, then there may be some credits that can be used toward a degree. If they are continuing education units then they will not be usable.
I am going for my CDA and almost completed. I am also taking classes for my associates degree in early childhood education. And they are giving me 12 credits for my AA when I get my CDA. It will also take off 3 classes I would have had to take plus another class. So I think it is worth it to get a CDA, anywhere you go now for a job is wanting one. This week I am doing my observation in the classroom and then sending all of the information in to get a rep to come give me the tests.
