Do Jewish people have a dislike for black people?

To suggest that there is any such categorical disdain is absurd.

Some do while others do not. It should be noted though that there are black Jews,

that to be Jewish is not exclusive to any color, and to be black does not exclude any

religion.

At the most fundamental level, thinkers in both groups feel a kinship to one another,

since both survived a long period of slavery, and their history and modern identity

were shaped by that shared experience.

Regarding the African American struggle for equality in the US, it must be noted

that Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel marched at Selma with Dr. Martin Luther King,

Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Rev. Ralph Abernathy, because the principles and philosophy

of Judaism are so in line with the demands for equality of all people.

Sadly, I had a roommate who was prejudiced against blacks and so was her entire family!

Judaism teaches that all people should be treated equally in all aspects of life such as working, schooling, housing, etc. Jews, however, are people and, like all people, are susceptible to the overriding culture in which they live. There were Jews across the New World, especially in the southern United States who were slaveowners just like their fellow Christian citizens. Jews fought in roughly equal numbers (10,000 vs. 10,000) during the Civil War and there are several speeches from both Jewish Abolitionists and Jewish Slavists discussing why racism and slavery was unacceptable or perfectly permissible.

During the Civil Rights Era, Jews were overwhelmingly on the side of Equality, supporting Dr. King and numerous leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. However, they were very cautious of the Nation of Islam because of its virulently Anti-Semitic perspective (especially under Farrakhan) and of organizations like the Black Panthers (because of their militant advocacy).

In Israel, a number of Ethiopian Jews report discriminatory treatment because Israelis mistake them for Sudanese migrants (who are Muslim) and are less willing to give them jobs or housing than they would fellow Jews. Israeli society as a whole has numerous different races and ethnicities and Israeli society is working hard to mend fences, but it is difficult to teach tolerance to older generations as well as people born in generally intolerant countries (like Russia).
