Answer 1

When the civilized world reads the words in the Old Testament saying that God has chosen the people of Israel, Jews ponder the question of what it is that they were chosen for, while others assume that they know, place their assumption as the invention of the Jews, and proceed to curse and criticize it.

Answer 2

Jews believe that they were chosen, but this does not connote superiority.

It is worth noting that many non-Jews (as well as less-educated Jews) misunderstand the concept of "chosen-ness". It is not a statement of ethnic superiority in the vein of the übermensch or "White Pride". The Jewish understanding is that the Jewish people were charged with a distinct mission/task that the rest of the world was not assigned and this is to elevate the spiritual character of the world. This charge is very similar to that which monks and nuns take on in Catholicism and nobody chastises them for this act because we understand the hardship that comes out of that level of dedication. Jews are compelled to be so dedicated. That's it. Jews do not claim non-Jews to be inferior, unimportant, unworthy or lacking full rights in this life, or even unworthy of entering "the good place" after death. They, in fact, advocate exactly the opposite (that non-Jews are equal, critical, worthy of rights, have a reserved place in the "good place" after death provided they are good people).

Just to clarify, when the question refers to "believe in", it is not questioning whether Jews doubt the existence of Christians on this Earth. There is no Jew who is unaware of the existence of the Christian faith or adherents (there are a great number who do not understand it, but they acknowledge that it exists). This is as opposed to the coelocanth which Europeans believed to be extinct until the 1930s discovery proved its current existence.

Since the question should be better understood as "Do Jews believe the religious claims of Christianity?" the answer is unequivocally no. While there are Messianic Jews (Jews that accept Jesus as their Savior), the majority of Christians who refer to themselves as Messianic Jews have no Jewish heritage whatsoever and are not accepted as Jews by any Jews.

Some Christian Beliefs that Jews reject:

The Trinity: Jews believe in One God who has no equal and no division. The Trinity implies that God has certain attributes and certain qualities.

Divinity of Christ: Jews believe that the Messiah must be 100% Human and 0% God. God will NOT manifest as flesh in Judaism.

Rejection of Personal Restrictions: Jews do not believe that they are allowed to forgo the rules of Kashrut (what can and cannot be eaten), Shatnez (prohibition on mixing of fibers), Shabbat (taking one day of the week to do no work), and Tzedaka (righteous donations). The Jew believes that he is still required to do these particular behaviors which the Christian believes are no longer necessary.

Original Sin: Jews believe that all people are born innocent and good.

Hell: The idea that when we die, there is the possibility of eternal damnation does not exist anywhere in Judaism.

Universal Conversion: Jews believe in a religion united by the idea of kinsmanship. Jews believe themselves to be one nation or one really large extended family. Jews also believe that Judaism is the path for Jews and that there are different paths for different people and that it is far easier for non-Jews to live righteously than it is for Jews. As such, Jews do not believe it is necessary for others to convert to Judaism and that it is not correct to ask others to take on a more difficult path than they have to. This being said, conversion to Judaism does happen on a fairly frequent basis and this is a process that can take anywhere from 1-6 years, sometimes even longer.

We believe that they WERE the chosen ones, but God rejected them after they stopped having faith in Him, and trusting in them.
