Yes. This is the central message of Mormonism. One of the basic Articles of Faith of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the 'Mormon' church) says, "We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved..."

Mormons believe that one must accept Jesus Christ and the sacrifice that He performed in their behalf in order to be cleansed from their sins and recieve salvation. Scriptural basis for this doctrine is found in both the Bible and the Book of Mormon. For example:

Bible:

Matthew 26:28 "For this is my blood of the New Testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins."

Romans 5:9 "...being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

1 John 1:7 "...The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

Book of Mormon:

Helaman 5:9 "...there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember that he cometh to redeem the world."

Alma 24:13 "...the blood of the Son of our great God, which shall be shed for the atonement of our sins."

2 Nephi 2:6-7 "Redemption cometh in and through the Holy Messiah; for he is full of grace and truth. Behold, he offereth himself a sacrifice for sin, to answer the ends of the law..."

Mosiah 3:17 "...There shall be no other name given nor any other way nor means whereby salvation cometh, only in and through the name of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent."

Alma 34:8 "I do know that Christ shall come among the children of men, to take upon him the transgressions of his people, and that he shall atone for the sins of the world"

Each Sunday, Mormon congregations partake of the Sacrament (communion or Lord's Supper), which they believe is symbolic of accepting the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. This ceremonial ordinance involves blessing and eating bread and water "in rememberance of the blood and body of the Son, which was shed for them".

Do Mormons believein transubstantiation?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints (Mormons), do not believe in transubstantiation. They believe in the sacredness and importance of the Lord’s Sacrament, and take it weekly, using bread and water to represent the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ. But they do not believe the substances transform, and remain only as symbols of the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Do Mormons believe that John chapter 3 verse 16 is sufficient for salvation?

Mormons believe that God loved the world and gave His only Son, Jesus Christ to atone for the sins of the world. It is through that blood that men are saved. No amount of works done could be sufficient to save a man were it not for the atonement of Christ, as is told by Christ when denouncing those who thought the Law of Moses to be sufficient. However, Mormons do not believe in "once saved always saved" or the idea that believing in Christ will save them for all eternity. Mormons believe that it is by grace men are saved, after all they can do. True faith in Christ includes following his commandments and enduring till the end. Those who love Christ are saved by His atoning blood, and as stated by Christ "If ye love me, keep my commandments." There is quite a difference between "salvation" and "exaltation".

Do Mormons believe knowing a Jew will help them get into heaven?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that "there is no other way nor means whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ" (Book of Mormon, Helaman 5:9. Also see Mosiah 3:17 and Alma 38:9). Mormons, like all Christians, believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven.

Do Mormons believe that Jesus is present in the Eucharist?

No. While members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) do partake of blessed bread and water each week at Sunday services in commemoration of the Lord's supper, they do not believe in the doctrine of transubstatiation. That is, they do not believe that Jesus is physically present in the emblems. The bread and water are viewed as symbols of the flesh and blood of Jesus Christ only.

Do Mormons believe communion is Jesus' body?

No. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) beieve that the elements of Communion (Mormons call it 'Sacrament') are a symbol of Jesus Christ. Mormons do not believe that the elements are transubstantiated to become the body and blood of Christ, as some other Christian groups believe. For the Sacrament, Mormon Priests first bless bread and water. Part of the blessing says, "bless and sanctify this bread/water...that they may eat it in remembrance of the body/blood of Thy Son". This helps to clarify that the bread and water are to be used as symbols to help us remember Christ. Jesus said that He was the "Bread of Life" (John 6:35 & 48) and that His Gospel was the "Living Water" (John 4:10-11 & John 7:38), which gives further meaning to the symbolism of the Sacramental elements.

What do you share in when you receive the sacraments?

Sanctifying Grace, that is, the Life of God in our Souls by which we are made adopted children of the Father, brothers of Christ, and Temples of the Holy Spirit. This is habitual---it remains with us unless we commit a mortal sin.

What is one of the main disputes between Protestants and Catholics transubstantiation?

Catholics believe that the elements of bread and wine become the actual body and blood of Christ during the consecration of the Mass. Protestants believe the elements are merely symbols of Christ body and blood.

Do Catholics believe that the bread and wine really represent Jesus' Body and Blood?

No, not exactly: Catholic belief is that at the consecration of the bread and wine at Mass, these elements become the true essence of the Body and Blood of Christ. While the physical form is unchanged, it is believed there is an essential transformation. Catholics do not believe that the bread and wine are representative, they believe they are the Body and Blood of Christ (in essence).

What is protestant communion?

The body and blood of Christ received in remembrance of His death till He comes....most believe Christ is actually really present there with them but that the elements are merely symbolic, as opposed to Roman Catholics who believe the wafer actually becomes His flesh and the wine His physical blood (transubstantiation)

Why do catholic think bread and wine is symbolic?

Catholics believe in transubstantiation, that the bread and wine in the Eucharist is not symbolic but Christ's REAL PRESENCE-the body and blood of Christ.

What does baptism in Mormon religion mean?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) believe that baptism symbolizes being reborn in Christ. When a Mormon is baptized, they are baptized by immersion, meaning that they are put totally under the water. When the person is laid into the water it symbolizes burying the old life, and when they rise up out of the water it symbolizes the birth a new life. When a Mormon is baptized they believe that they take upon themselves the name of Jesus Christ, they are now qualified to be covered by His atoning blood to receive salvation. Baptism washes away any past sins and makes you an official member of the Church. Nobody is baptized before age 8, because Mormons believe that children under age 8 are innocent.
