The three main religions in the world that claim to worship the "God of Abraham" are the "Jewish" religion [through Abraham's descendant ISAAC], "modern professing Christianity" [Christ's lineage is traced through Abraham through Isaac's grandson JUDAH], and "Islam" [the Arab people trace their lineage through Abraham's other son ISHMAEL].

Technically, Ishmael was Abraham's FIRST BORN SON, and should have received the customary "birthright" inheritance, in which the first born son and his descendants receive the "lion's share" of his father's material possessions [land, wealth, anything belonging to his estate] in the event of his death.

This "birthright" promise from God to Abraham's descendants constitutes the meat of God's COVENANT with Abraham.

But because God stipulated that Abraham's son, Isaac and his descendants were to receive the "birthright" or COVENANT elements and not Ishmael:

"...Abraham said unto God, 'O that Ishmael might live before thee!'

And God said, 'Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I WILL ESTABLISH MY COVENANT WITH HIM for an EVERLASTING COVENANT, and WITH HIS SEED AFTER HIM.

'As for Ishmael, I have heard thee: behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

'But MY COVENANT will I establish WITH ISAAC, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.'" (Gen.17:18-21)

Thus began the ages-old rivalry and "bad blood" between the descendants of Ishmael [the Arabs] and the descendants of Isaac [the Israelites, named after Isaac's son JACOB, whose name was changed to Israel; and who also "cheated" his elder brother Esau {the father of the nation of Turkey} out of his birthright from the well-known biblical account].

This account in the Hebrew Scriptures has never set well with the Arab peoples... not to mention the Turks, also... all of which accounts for the unending bitter hatred over the centuries by these and many other nations in the world toward the Jews.

Therefore, pertaining to the question -- it became only logical that with the advent of Islam and the writing of the Q'ran by Ishmael's descendant, Muhammad, centuries later; none of the few passages he lifted out of the Hebrew Scriptures to include in his writings included God's COVENANT was with ISRAEL and not ISLAM [which is not in the Bible].

So, no... Muslims regard the Hebrew Scriptures to be IN ERROR and perverted by Moses and the Hebrew prophets; believing that Ishmael [not Isaac and the Jews] was and is the rightful possessor of the "birthright" COVENANT of their father Abraham.

This is at the root of the problems in the Middle East to this day... among "brother-nations" who can't [or simply refuse to] get along with one another.

"Tell me - you who want to continue to be subject to Law - will you not listen to the Law?

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave-girl and one by the free woman. But we see that the child of the slave-girl was born in the common course of nature; but the child of the free woman in fulfilment of the promise.

All this is allegorical; for the women represent two covenants. One has its origin on Mount Sinai, and bears children destined for slavery. This is Hagar; for the name Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, which is in bondage together with her children.

But the Jerusalem WHICH IS ABOVE is free, and SHE IS OUR MOTHER.

For it is written, 'Rejoice, thou barren woman that bearest not, break forth into a joyful cry, thou that dost not travail with child. For the desolate woman has many children - more indeed than she who has the husband.'

But you, brethren, like Isaac, are Children born in FULFILMENT OF A PROMISE.

Yet just as, at that time, the child born in the common course of nature persecuted the one whose birth was due to the Power of the Spirit, so it is now.

But what says the Scripture? 'Send away the slave-girl and her son, for never shall the slave-girl's son share the inheritance with the son of the free woman.'

Therefore, brethren, since we are not the children of the slave-girl, but of the free woman - (Gal.4:21-31 WEY Weymouth's New Testament)

"Christ having made us Gloriously free - stand fast and do not again be hampered with the yoke of slavery... Christ has become nothing to any of you who are seeking acceptance with God through the Law: you have fallen away from Grace." (Gal. 5:1-4 WEY)

Let's face it. The Muslims have the Scriptures wrong. But then, so do the Jews... and so does modern professing Christianity: false religions all. All of them claiming Abraham as their source of faith and righteousness while none of them have an understanding of the Truth of God. Jesus Himself blew holes in the faith of those Jews who "believed on Him" that day, because while they claimed to be Abraham's children -- they didn't believe a Word He said -- for which they hated Him and wanted Him dead [much the same way as modern professing Christianity "believes" in Jesus today]:

"...I realize that you are descendants of Abraham. And yet some of you are trying to kill Me because My Message does not find a place IN YOUR HEARTS... for if you were the children of Abraham, you would follow his GOOD EXAMPLE... but you are trying to kill Me. Abraham wouldn't do a thing like that. No, you are obeying YOUR REAL FATHER when you act that way. (John 8:37-41 NLT New Living Translation)

"...For you are THE CHILDREN OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and has always HATED THE TRUTH, There is no Truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and THE FATHER [originator] OF LIES. So when I tell you the Truth, you just naturally don't believe Me!" (verses 44-45)

No... Muslims don't consider the Bible to be the exact Word of God. But according to Jesus... even among those who claim to get their beliefs straight from God's Word... who among us does?
