He killed everyone but he could not kill Sasuke. Itachi was planning to make Sasuke a great ninja, so, he acted as if he hated Sasuke so that Sasuke will train and grow stronger then himself. When Sasuke fought Itachi, Itachi was the one who released him from the curse mark. Sadly, Sasuke kills Itachi in the same battle not knowing the truth of his brother that has been lying to Sasuke all this time. Actually, Itachi seals Orochimaru with the Totsuka Blade (the blade of sealing) with Susano o' and the curse mark is gone.

It was just recently made into a episode, I think in episodes 135-138. Or so I think, but all I can say is that Sasuke did not kill Itachi. If you actually watch the episodes, Itachi was laying back, or should I say holding back, he didn't even try to kill Sasuke. And in the end, Itachi ended up poking Sasuke's forehead.Itachi, was a good brother. He was protecting Sasuke from Orochimaru, or well, most of the facts I searched up said. He was protecting Sasuke all this time, but I guess Sasuke never knew. But you can't really blame him.The manga is Naruto Shippuden chapters 40-44, I hope you watch the big battle between to two brothers. But what I really hope for is that they make an Naruto Akkipuden. Sasuke is "blind" by the hatred he has for his brother. Itachi had shown him that he was responsible for the Massacre. The whole reason behind it was to make Sasuke stronger.

Who knows? Kishimoto let Nagato revive Konoha. If Itachi returned I woudnt be suprised. In my opinion if Itachi returned he would not re-join the Akatsuki and he would not combine forces with Sasuke in his plan to destroy Konoha. Itachi would attempt to stop Sasuke before he is able to destroy Konoha. He would fight on Konoha's side to stop Sasuke form destroying the village. Itachi massacred the Uchiha Clan because he was ordered to by the Konoha Council, and the Third Hokage because the Uchiha Clan had plans to overthrow Konoha, and Itachi knew this before he was ordered to kill off his entire family, because he spied on his own clan when he was an AMBU. When he was given the orders, he killed off his entire clan but spared Sasuke because he could not go out with the orders of killing him. He told Sasuke that he was just testing his abilities to pass himself down as a villan, and he wanted Sasuke to be the one to kill him. After that Itachi joined the Akatsuki to secretly keep an eye on Sasuke and his village and make sure both of them are safe. Deep down Itachi loved Sasuke with all of his heart. After learning the truth about Itachi from Tobi, Sasuke promised Kata that he would destroy Konoha. Knowing Itachi, he wouldn't let Sasuke do such a thing. So if Tsunade or some other master medical ninja were to come up with a fancy jutsu to resurrect Itachi, that would be my only guess on how he would come back. I would love to see him in the series again. He's my favorite character.
