NO. 1987 - 1989 are the same. When they changed the J arms to A arms they changed the connectors on the harness. The CDI on the newer years have a extra black wire also . DO NOT use this wire ( or ground it) if you use it on older years, or banshee wont rev out. This wire cuts the ignition to only over idle when you have parking brakes on. Just solder on connectors to interchange old and new.
No, they are completely different motors with different wiring harnesses, motor mount positions and transmissions.
Yes it will, the banshee engine is just a water cooled version of an RD engine. The bottom ends are identical except for the rotor end of the crankshaft is slightly longer. You will probably want to get the banshee wiring harness also. (Also a RD350LC was built where the LC at the end stood for Liquid Cooled).
I don't believe it will. It's probably possible but the wiring harnesses for the airbag and cruise controls are different, so the problem arises of how to mate the two wiring systems together. Hope that helps.
There are parts of the wiring harnesses going to every corner of the car. There are parts of the wiring harnesses going to every corner of the car.
where can I find yamaha wiring diagrams
There are several sources for thes, but JC Whitney has the best price that I know. Go To: http://www.jcwhitney.com/Painless-Wiring-VW-Wiring-Harnesses/4294966718-600010488.jcw Good luck with it.
I doubt very much that the wiring would interchange.
