it is believed that red wolves where extinct in the wild by the 70's but people i know ( i live in Kentucky) swear up and down they have seen them in the wild, however the size and looks of what i see as coyotes around here is IDENTICAL to the information Ive researched on red wolves, i hunt coyote around here because of there seemingly great numbers, and eating our cattle (3 to be specific, calf's that is) and the coyote Ive seen and killed look and resemble red wolves in ever manner, even there howl is hard to tell apart, on top of that the coyotes around here including ones Ive shot where easily 45-60lbs... so the answer to your question technically is no, but i wouldn't be surprised if the DNA of the coyotes around here resembled a red wolf more than it did a coyote itself, or even some other wolfs it might have interbred with in Canada and migrated into Kentucky.
YEP. The fist Red wolf was found the evaluation of land between the lakes in Tennessee and Kentucky.
