Birth control pills can cause hair loss. Generally, it takes about 3 months for your body to adjust to the new influx of hormones. Often, your estrogen/progestin levels will even out, hair loss will stop, and all will be fine. However, there are birth control pills that are "notorious" causing hair loss (Alesse, ortho tri-cylen lo, estrostep...) because they either have low estrogenic activity or high androgenic activity- in that case, if your hair is continually affected, it would be certainly advisable to talk to your Ob-Gyn about different BC options.
That's not a typical side effect. Women with polycystic ovarian syndrome will typically see less hair loss after being on the birth control pill for a few months.
yes! i did this for about 4 months and my hair grew about 30 centimetres, i do recommend it! the more expensive pill you buy, the longer and better it works!!

Overdosing on birth control pills isn't fatal. Depending on the brand/chemical in that particular pill, it could be anything from breast tenderness, to irregular bleeding, to discolored urine. You should, however, consult the insert for your pill and follow the directions if you've missed 3-4 active pills.
