if you don't socialize your dog with other dogs it will snap at them because it wants to protect you. I know this because we lived on a farm for a number of years and our dog was not used to other dogs. When we moved to the city she would jump snarl and snap at other dogs. This will happen if you don't get it used to people other than ones that it is used to as well.

You need to love dogs, and be comfortable around dogs. You also need to be able to asses the dogs general health (like you can tell if they are hurt or not or if they have flea's ect.) I suggest you learn more about dogs if you don't already know alot about dogs.
