It's possible. Ferrets can be infected with canine distemper which, as the name suggests, can also be caught by dogs. However, most dogs (in the USA and Europe at least) are vaccinated against this disease and ferrets can be as well - so make sure yours are. Ferrets can also become infested with fleas. The cat flea is the commonest in human homes - ask your vet for advice on which remedy he or she recommends to kill fleas both on your animals and in your home. Rabies is also a possibility in most countries (but not in the UK where the disease does not exist); however, it will be obvious of a ferret has rabies and it can be kept apart from other animals and taken to the vet.

Ferrets dont normally make humans sick, the only time they could is if they have rabies, and that would have to be inflicted by a bite. But anther common reasoning of humans getting sick from ferrets is the same as any other animal. Their Urine can become ammonia and that can cause breathing issues for humans, but that is only if the cage is not cleaned often. If anything Humans make Ferrets sick. If you have a cold or a flu they can easily contact it from you, so next time when your sick dont kiss and cuddle your little babies.

The question is what health risk does other animals or humans pose to ferrets?. Ferrets are susceptible to influenza (flu), canine distemper and rabies (which there are vaccines for ferrets)

Can ferret live in the same household with a squirrel?

Its possible, but not worth the heartbreak of losing a critter. on the one hand, both are small and would run around and love to play, but on the other hand, in the ferrets natural environment, ferrets are used for rabbit population control. Ferrets are also carnivorous, whereas squirrels are herbivores. on the other hand, it is said that domesticated ferrets have lost most or all of the instinct to kill other critters for food unless prompted to do so. like training it for hunting. if you are going to put these two together in a household, i recommend not teaching your ferret to eat live prey, because then, the squirrel will be considered fair game. They may live together, but I would be wary of letting them play together. Ferrets are carnivores and may attack squirrels.
