How do you tell the difference between a Labrador Retriever and a Golden Retriever?

Here are some significant differences between the Labrador Retriever and the Golden Retriever:Coat ColourLabradors can come in a black, yellow and chocolate (dark brown) colour, while Goldens only come in a fawn (golden) coloured coat, so a black and brown retriever-type dog cannot be a Golden. A Golden Retriever's coat can also come in a wide variety of shades, ranging from an almost white to dark mahogany. The yellow Labrador's coat is usually light golden, although it can come in a paler shade or a foxy red colour. Coat LengthThe Labrador Retriever is a short-haired dog. On the other hand, the Golden Retriever is a long-haired with a coat that is usually slightly wavy. It has moderate feathering on the back of its front legs and underbody, and heavier feathering on the front of its neck and chest, back of their thighs and the bottom of its tail. TailThe Labrador Retriever has a distinctive "otter tail", which is thick at its base and gradually tapers to the tip. The otter tail has no feathering. The Golden Retriever has a tail with heavy feathering on its underside, EarsThe Golden Retriever has ears closer to its cheek than the Labrador. Golden retrievers also have ears that are set lower than a Labradors'.

Can a black labrador retreiver have a white chest?

No, they usually do not. White spots on the chest, tail, or paws points towards a mixed breed. You may want to check with your breeder or vet if the dog was supposed to be pure-bred.

Fastest swimming dog?

im guessing the labrador? i believe this breed of dog, "labrador retreivers" from Newfoundland. were originally bred for "retrieving" purposes. they were mainly a "game" dog. they have a natural instinct of retrieving things. and especially in the water. they have webbed paws [unlike other dogs] and their powerful otter-like tail, acts as a rudder in the water. they have the 2 coats of fur. one which is water proof and the outer layer which has special oils to keep them dry and warm inside. labrador retrievers are natural swimmers.

What is the difference between a Golden Retriever and a Golden Labrador Retriever?

Golden Retrievers have webbed feet. Their fur is longer and thicker. They have two coats of fur, the long silky topcoat, and a softer fuzzier undercoat. The fur fans out off the backs of their legs, and they have very prominent fans from the bottom sides of their tails. Goldens tend to have a more narrow face, but that is not always true. Labs have shorter hair. It is still soft, but does not have the same fuzzy coat under the topcoat. Their heads are usually a little broader. The fans are absent from the backs of the legs and from the tail. See the related links below for more.
