they do a bit but not a lot
Well I'm getting a Horsefield tortoise for christmas to. Now I can't tell you everything because it would fill the whole page, but I can give you the basics. You feed it cabbage, lettuce, fruit, that type of thing. And you will need a heat lamp, a tortoise table, stones etc. Now all what I can say is what ever you want to know just type into google, e.g what should a Horsefield Tortoise enclosure have? and your answer will be right infront of you. I have made a little booklet about all the information on the tortoise. So maybe thats what you could concider doing? Hope this helped!
Different species of tortoise should not be kept together. While it is unlikely that they would object to each other, there is a problem with the fact that different species of tortoise have different bacteria in their gut. The bacteria from one species can be dangerous to another. You say you keep your tortoise in a tank, please note that this is not a healthy environment for a tortoise. They should be kept in an outdoor enclosure, weather permitting, and on a tortoise table at other times. Visit www.tortoisetrust.org or www.tortoisefirst.com for more information.

Stick your finger in your belly button and smell it and think really hard.
It's called either a Herman's or Horsefield's tortoise, but they both get about the same size just that theirshell pattern is different. They make good pets but really just to look at you can't really play with them and they need a vivarium to keep them warm otherwise they get sick.
50-60 years but can be more or less
