It depends on what they are mixed with! Labs themselves shed a lot! (I know from personal experience), but depending on what they are mixed with they might not shed as much or at all. You would have to research the traits of the other breed it is mixed with!

A golden retriever lab would shed more than a Border Collie Lab mix. Both are very good dogs, but I think that a Golden Retriever Lab mix's are more the family type and very loyal.

Designer dogs... bleh. Typically a Labrador/Poodle mix will retain the Poodle coat and will shed very little. On the other hand they will require regular grooming. On the other hand, Labradors really only shed twice a year, when they are throwing their undercoats in the winter and summer.
