I'm not sure that the above is strictly true. There are some lions in the India and, I believe, Pakistan. I am not sure whether their areas overlap. Historically, before the effects of humans, their territories did overlap.

AA tiger will probably stay away from a lion because lions live in prides and a tiger doesn't. However if there was a stray lion without a pride for protection and meets a tiger they will both start to fight mainly because of territory or food.
