It does shorten the battery life ... it has only so many cycles before it dies, and on a short trip the battery doesn't get to fully recharged so that the damage is exaggerated.
You can reduce the problem by using a battery charger, but there are other problems with short trips: the engine doesn't get to warm up to "operating temperature" so there's excessive wear and corrosion of the engine.
Nothing it will not harm the battery at all. It is sealed from outside elements. I do not mean putting it under the water as that would short it out. But to rinse it off is fine.
It will do no harm.
Nothing. The battery is sealed an no harm will be done.
If you do it correctly, no, you will not harm your battery.

Yes, if you short the battery out it can explode and burn you.
You can short out a battery and destroy it in a few seconds.
The car light? YES! Leaving your car light on WILL make your battery run out. Things like leaving your car door open if the light is on because it is open will cause the lgiht to Mae your car battery run out. There is a big difference between shorted out a car battery and running the battery down. Lighting in itself won't short a battery out but will run it down.
A short in electrical system within the battery where two cells short together.
