Musical notation is basically the same for all musical instruments. The differences between piano and violin notation are as follows:

Piano notation is written on two staves, one above the other, held together with a brace and a linking line at the beginning of each line. The upper staff is for the right hand and the lower one is for the left. The upper staff is usually in the treble (G) clef and the lower in the bass (F) clef. Piano music occasionally has notations for the use of the pedals, particularly the damper pedal.

Violin music is written on only one staff, always in the treble clef. It occasionally has notations such as "pizzicato", "spiccato", or "arco" which describe the method of playing. Violin music also usually has notations for bowing, including special signs for up-bow and down-bow and notations for slurs (a series of notes played with the same bow movement). Sometimes the composer will indicate which string the notes are to be played on when it could possibly be played on more than one.

Other than these quite small differences, the notation is the same.

What is the swirly thing on a violin called?

If you mean on the body of the violin, you may be referring to what are commonly called the "f holes," because of their f-like shape. If you're talking about the thing at the end of the neck, that's the headstock.

How difficult is it to play the piano after playing the violin?

The piano is an amazing instrument, but it’s very different from the violin. It is more rewarding at first, since you don’t have to worry about intonation, just about coordination. Things start to get difficult later on, when you start to play pieces with lots of voices and you must decide at every moment which one has to be the main one, which one the second, third, etc. Also, music sheets are more difficult to read than violín ones. There are lots of incredible piano/keyboard pieces, and putting in the effort to reach even the technically easier ones is well worth it. If you want to play the violin, the very best preparation to that is just to start playing the violin. Don’t take any detours, because it is difficult enough as it is. It’s definitely not true that playing the piano or the recorder is a better preparation to playing the violin than playing the violin

Does the word violin mean anything?

What is a strange shaped violin called?

Um.... what do you exactly mean ? Um if its has like a body or holes or even only like a horn type of thing in the bottom its probably a electric violin that you have to hook up to a speaker. I mean you can also get an acoustic violin that has a shape or an animal as a scroll like my sister has a tiger as her scroll. Hope I answer your question.
