No.

The first answer isn't strictly true; it really depends when the cat was neutered. A fully mature Tom cat that has been left intact months or even years after it became sexually mature (most cats reach this stage at around six months old), the spraying often becomes a habit, so may still spray after being neutered.

However, a kitten who has been neutered before or just after reaching sexual maturity are very unlikely to spray, as it has not become a habit or have developed a "need" to act out this activity.

Do male dogs spray urine in house?

Dogs don't spray like tom cats, but they will mark their territory with urine. They are less inclined to mark territory in a house once they are properly housebroken. Tom cats just can't help themselves--dogs can.

I own 2 indoor Raggdoll cats a boy whos jst became sexually mature an uneutered girl. Will my tom still spray even if he has a partner to mate with?

Yes, your tom will still spray around the house as he will view this as his territory and to keep other toms out. The the spraying may even get worse once the female comes into season. Your male cat will want the female all to himself so will mark his territory even more. It is also known for female in heat to spray, also. If do not want your cats to spray, it is advisable to get them spayed and neutered.

Can a spayed female cat still mate?

I have several neutered cats that do not spray. I have added spayed females to them without problems. They all stay indoors and I have several litter boxes. Cats do not normally spray unless the litter boxes are not clean, then they (males cats) will squat and urine on the floor or carpet, instead of spraying, as an unaltered male would do. Outdoor cats behave totally different and do spray, both the males and females. This is based on my experience of 30 years and dozens of in and out cats. Also they should be altered young. Some vets will do it right away and others wait till 6 months. I always waited 6 months. Hope this helps a little. Helen Well, I just saw my neutered male spray the front of my car's tire. We didn't get him until he was about a year old, and from the shelter, which neutered him at that time. He just recently started spraying, at the age of 3 years. Perhaps not cooincidentally, we just added another cat (kitten) to our household. Rob

What are tom cats?

How do cats attract a mate?

Unneutered Tom cats will often wonder away from home when they smell a female cat in heat, or to look for a female in heat. It is common for them to always come home after a few days to a week later. Usually they return home pretty banged up from fighting with other male cats. I have also witnessed many different Tom cats around my own home when my female cat comes in heat. The best thing to do, if you don't want your tom cat to leave home in search of a female, or to spray all over the house is to have him neutered. It could save his life. Cats that are neutered or spayed tend to live longer than those that are not and will not get certain cancers that intact cats may develop at some point in their lives.

Can a male cat spray because a female dog is in heat in the house?

It is very unlikely he is spraying specifically because your dog is on heat. However, any stressful factors can cause cats to spray, and the dog's mood changes and unusual smells may be causing the spraying behaviour. Entire male cats are very likely to spray for no specific reason, and tom cats should always be neutered. A vet can give you advice on neutering, and on products or environmental changes to help reduce spraying.

Are pregnant cats interested in tom cats?

No; Only when in heat is a female cat interested in a Tom cat.

Will a castrated tom cat still go after a female cat on heat?

Cats are very seldom castrated; a neutered cat does retain his penis. And a neutered tom will still cover a queen in heat, because his reactions to her scents and actions will still be in place.
