No - the shell expands with the growth of the turtle.
A turtles shell is a part of its' body made out of bone. Turtles grow their own shells.
Yes Crickets Are good for turtles growth and cells in its shell
No, With turtles the shell is part of the animal's bone structure and is alive. The platelets making up the shell grow with the animal and you can age the turtle by counting the rings making up the platelets.
Turtles do not 'get into' their shells, they are born in their shells which are part of their bodies (they can not come off) and their shells grow with them.
They make them when inside the egg so they have them at birth. A turtle's shell is really a hard covering over their ribs. It's a myth that turtles can come out of their shells or that turtles shed their shells when they get bigger and then find new ones. A turtles shell grows along with the turtle.
as far as i know they can just like tortoises.
Tortoises do not shed their shells because the shell is part of their body. With proper UVB lighting the shell will grow normally and adjust to the tortoises size.
Yes, tortoises' shells do grow. They don't go looking for an abandoned larger shell as they grow, like some sea creatures do. Their shells are attached to their spines.
Yes because of how the length of turtles grow about 17% each year they must move in different shells but they usually do it during the spring so not all lose their shells :)
actually, yes...it is alright that your turtle is shedding it's shell. that means it is getting bigger. Look at it as if it were a little child. Children grow out of clothes so they need to go get new one...well turtle grow out of their shell but instead of getting a new one(besides their shell is part of their body...it is like a bone) they just shead to make more room for them to grow.
The only box turtles indigenous to Kansas are the Ornate box turtle and the Three toed box turtle. They both grow to an adult shell length of 6 inches. The biggest box turtles are Gulf Coast box turtles (not in Kansas) and they can grow to 8 inches or more in length. To answer your question, the state they are in has no affect on how big they grow so if you put a gulf coast box turtle in Kansas it can still grow to 8 inches or more.:-)
They will heal if the animal survives the injury. A hole through the shell usually kills the animal because it allows infection of the body cavity or the animal suffocates from collapsed lungs as air fills the body cavity.
