Absolutely! Not saying denser wood does not absorb at all, but it does absorb a far less amount than a softer, less dense wood.

Why does some food float and some food not?

Whether an object floats or not depends on its density. Density is the amount of mass in a volume, or mass divided by volume. If and object's density is less than that of water, it will float in water, and if an objects density is higher than that of water, it will sink in water. raw material (fishballs will sink down);but it will floats when it is cook. why

How does the calinity of water effect temperature and water currents?

Salinity, or saltiness, affects how readily the water changes temperatures as well as its density. Because of this, currents in the water can arise not only from the difference in temperature, but also from the density difference, which comes from the salinity itself.

What else besides an egg float in salt water and sinks in fresh water?

It depends entirely on the amount of salt in the water. Pure water has a density of 1 kg/L. Any item that is less dense than 1 kgL, will float. Items with a greater density will sink. As you increase the salinity of water, the density of the salt adds to the water's density. The Dead Sea, for example, has a high saline level (31%) and it's density is 1.24kg/L. An average sized person can easily float in these waters.

Where is water absorbed in the body?

Water is primarily absorbed in two places: 1) during digestion, water is primarily absorbed in the small intestine (90%), the remaining water (10%) is absorbed by the large intestine. 2) during filtration of the blood in the kidneys, water is reabsorbed in the nephron hope that points you in the right direction.

What does light energy do to water and carbon dioxide?

Light has little or no effect on water and carbon dioxide, unless a catalyst such as chlorophyll is present. In that case, the light energy is absorbed and the water and carbon dioxide are converted to glucose and water. This is photosynthesis.

Does the size of the sponge affect the amount of water absorbed?

The size of a sponge does affect the amount of water absorbed. The bigger the sponge the more water absorbed.

In determining the density of an unknown solid it was immersed in water if a portion of the sample sticks out the water how will this effect the calculation of the density?

this will cause the density to be lower than it actually is because it does not displace the full amount of water it should
