Well, working out with weights actually doesn't use up that much calories, but it does tend to boost your appetite. One explanation can be that you're simply overeating. Another possibility lies in the fact that muscle is heavier than fat, so if you're gaining muscle at the time as you're losing fat your weight can increase. If weight loss is your goal you should be doing aerobic exercises, stuff that gets your heart rate up a bit for fairly long sessions.
Yes.. but don't feel discouraged! As a person begins exercising, they build MUSCLE. And muscle weighs more than fat...and that gain in muscle is why the numbers on the scale may start to go up a bit at first.
As you stay true to your commitment to exercise, you will begin to see those numbers get lower.
Don't let the arbitrary numbers one scale be your "measure" of your success. Those body weight numbers are really the least effective way to record your progress. (Throwing your scale out the window isn't necessary but couple it's "answer" along with a few other - more reliable- methods*.)
Get out that measuring tape* and write down your measurements. Make a goal to remeasure yourself on a consistent basis - say every 2 or 3 weeks. You will see much more accurate and encouraging results with this method.
A full-length mirror* is also an excellent way to recognize all of your hard work paying off. (It can be unpleasant at first but as your body changes and begins to re-shape itself, you and your mirror will start having a much better relationship.
Don't discount the improvements you "think" you see reflecting back at you. They are real.
Let your wardrobe* also tell you that you are losing weight. Waistbands on pants feel looser, shirts begin hanging better on your shoulders, etc.
Keep up the good work and you will be rewarded!
Good Luck!
Generally, if you go to the gym, your body will remain fit and healthy.so the more exercise you do, the more weight you lose...
You may gain weight after starting a workout program because your body needs to adjust to the new habits of your daily activities
The only way you can gain weight by not going to the gym is to pig out and over eat. If you maintain a healthy life style and eat properly you shouldn't get fat, but you will loose muscle size, and strength
Start going to the gym
When you start going to the gym you lose fat but gain muscle and as muscle is heavier that fat you may feel larger, but reach for the measuring tape, you may not lose weight but you will lose inches.
Going to the gym.
Preteen weight gain is common if your going through a growth spurt
no cant gain weight
the freshman 15Freshmen in college usually gain so much weight because they arent exercising. They are in their room studying for classes and are busy because of everything going on that they normally dont have enough time to exercise, where in high school they had gym. In college there are no gym classes ot stuff that is manditory. There are exercise rooms however in the dorms.
You wont gain any muscle if you don't work out... you can gain some weight, most of it will be fat probably if you will gain anything at all.. Gym is best option, don't waste money on supplements if you don't work out...
lift weights and gain muscle
yes you can build muscle and loose fat, but you can also gain weight. I tried loosing weight by going to the gym and gained muscle so therefore that made me gain weight eve though I lost fat because fat can be turned into muscle
For a time you will gain weight because muscle weighs more. Over time, your body shape and weight will change. Keep on with the program.
