No, you do not have to buy the entire throttle body. You can buy only the throttle position sensor. Most of the big chain stores such as Kragens, Autozone etc. should have it.
The throttle position sensor is mounted on the throttle body. the throttle position sensor on a 2006 chevy impala is an electronic plug mounted to the gas pedal. I just worked on one. If u need a new one u have to buy the whole assembly. gas pedal and all.
It is on the accelerator pedal. You have to replace the whole pedal assembly
On the right side of the throttle body (where the intake piping meets the engine) you will have to disconnect the hose clamps that hold the plastic piping to the throttle body to get a clear view. I would also suggest removing the throttle body as a whole to replace the throttle position sensor its held on by 4 hex screws. The sensor plugs into the engine harness right ubove the intake piping; its a fat grey clip with 3 wires attached to it
If it is similar to the 2002, and I believe they are, It is permanently attached to the throttle body. To replace the sensor, you have to replace the whole throttle body.
No its dangerous. the computer has no idea what the throttle (gas pedal) position is. I will give you some tips, they are cheap and on the outside of the throttle body however they have security screws which are almost always destroyed when removing. Your best bet is to get a throttle body with sensor attached from a wrcking yard and swapping out the whole thing OR having dealer do it screw almost always strip out when removing old tps then it gets fun. It cannot be on there loose.
in the distributor, you have to replace the whole unit.
If I'm not mistaken, I think the camshaft position sensor on these engines is built into the distributor. You'd have to replace the whole thing.
I am going thru this same prob right now....damn GM! This should have been recalled! From what I am being told u cannot just change this sensor. You have to have the whole throttle body replaced and its VERY expensive repair.
Yea, the crankshaft sensor is under the distributor and the camshaft sensor is inside the distributor, you cannot change it so you will have to replace the whole distributor.
i just changed one this summer on an L300 and you have to replace the whole throttle body it is built in and the only way to get it is to buy a throttle body i have one if you are interested part cost $ 100.00 + shipping not sure what the problem is you are having but most times the codes are not correct if it is giving you running problems and throwing t.p.s. codes and having intermittent stalling you may want to try the crank sensor first. i have had this problem with the one i have been working on.changed crank sensor and customer has been happy since. if interested text me. atten george 586-339-0342 hope this helps you.
Sensor is available, Chrysler calls it a pick up plate.
There's good news and there's bad news depending on what you're really asking. The bad news, if you're asking how to replace the throttle position "sensor" you can't. The sensor is part of the throttle body assembly and the whole thing has to be replaced if the sensor is faulty. The good news, throttle body replacement is very easy. 1. Remove negative cable from battery. (note your radio settings if needed because the radio will lose memory settings) 2. Remove air intake duct from thottle body 3. Label than disconnect any vacuum/coolant lines attached to the throtte body. If there are coolant lines, plug hem to prevent losing coolant. 4. Disconnect electrical onnector from the Throttoe Position Sensor 5. Remove bolts/nuts holding throttle body to engine 6. Pull throttle body and gasket away from intake manifold You're done. Replacement is exactly the opposite. Once you've reconnected the battery you'll have to reset the radio settings and your moonroof/window settings if equipped. Your owner's manual will tell you how to do those things. Cheers
