It depends, to an extent. In most developed nations, if access to a subscription service has been prematurely blocked by the provider, then the customer is not liable to pay for continued subscriber status for said service. In some circumstances, there may still be an early termination fee in the case of cellular phone service as well as some internet service providers and telecomm providers.
If the customer has an unpaid balance on the service, they may be required to pay off that remaining balance as well, lest it be handed over to an annoying collection agency.
