Do you have to pull the header of to change the starter in a 1975 f250 i got a 390 motor?

I had a 76 F100 with a 390 with headers and yes you do. worst thing I ever did was to put headers on that truck because the heat would cook the starters and leave me stranded in places i shouldn't be. hard to keep exhaust gaskets from leaking.
