how do i replace a front crankshaft seal on a 99 mitsubishi mirage
Remove belt, remove crankshaft bolt with air impact tool, remove balancer pulley with a balancer puller. Then you will be able to get to it.
Replacement of the harmonic balancer is most conveniently done with the engine out of the car. 1. Release the belt tensioner and remove the serpentine belt. Take note of its routing. 2. Remove the bolt from the center of the balancer. 3. Use an appropriate puller to remove the balancer from the crankshaft. 4, Use the center bolt to pull the replacement balancer onto the crankshaft. Replace the serpentine belt.
I would contact the local parts store and replace the harmonic balancer if you think it is bad. a bad balancer can cause failure in the crankshaft bearings because of the shake.
at the front of the engine, next to the harmonic balancer
It is located behind the crankshaft harmonic balancer pulley on the bottom front of the engine. The right lower splash shield and harmonic balancer pulley must be removed to replace it.
If the engine is a 3100 V6, the crankshaft sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer (crankshaft pulley). You'll need a special puller to remove tha balancer. The sensor is attached by two bolts onto the timing cover. Replace sensor and plug it in. Repalce balancer& belts...you're done!
Assuming that it is a 3.1 V6, as most of them are, there is no cam sensor. Only a crankshaft sensor. It is located behind the harmonic balancer. To replace it the balancer has to be removed.
Remove the serpentine belt. Remove the harmonic balancer. Pry it off the crankshaft. Install new seal, replace balancer and belt.
not really that expensive, all you have to remove is the main drive belt and the balancer.. i charge about 150.
On the 3.8 litre engine its located on the forward side under the harmonic balancer. You need to pull the balancer to replace the sensor. The magnetic pick-up on the sensor rides in the stainless steel stotted track on the rear of the balancer.
