The air bags might deploy for no reason in a 1997 Chrysler Sebring Convertible if their is a short in the system. It is also possible that a sensor in the bumper was broken somehow.
The 1997 Pontiac Sunfire front bumper is held in place by six retaining clips and for retaining bolts. Remove the retaining bolts and pry outward on each retaining clip.
First remove the bumper cover. You need to take off the front grill to get at the plastic retainers that hold the top of the buimber on. There are about four retainers on the bootom of the bumper.

well i had to pull my front bumper off to put the headlights on. I have a 1997 prelude so i don't know what year you have but i would guess the front bumper will have to come off.
It is located in front of the left front wheel, inside the fender. You have to remove the wheel and fender liner to access.
don t do it you need to remove the rears seats the bolt from the hydrolics rod and the bolts from the botom of the convertible make sure all the clips are of behing the bolts and make sure you take of the wirre from the class you will need some body to help you to remove the top
The shift solenoid B for a 1997 Chrysler Convertible is located inside the transmission. The speed sensor has to be removed to access the bolts to remove the cover over this shift solenoid.
You can do most anything if you have the money.

It is located behind the left rear (drivers side) bumper extension, if you look directly in the wheel well opening to the rear you will see the heads of two bolts. The other 2 nuts are located behind the bumper, should be accessible when you remove the bumper pad, hope this helps
