You do have to take the steering column loose and drop it down so you can get your hand up to the small clip that holds the brake booster rod off. But you do not have to take it all the way out. Just drop it down.

disconnect negative battery cable. remove small dash panel under steering column. remove the 2 nuts on either side of column directly under dash. Disconnect harness connections. with hood of vehicle raised, under brake booster the column is secured with a nut and bolt. Inside of vehicle behind brake pedal and under the carpet the column has 4 bolts fastened to firewall. to keep steering wheel centered be careful not to rotate when column is removed.
u have to undo your master cylinder and there are 4 bolts under the dashboard near the brake pedal just undo ur steering column to get to the bolts and unscrew them and remove the booster
