code 44 means O2 running leanI got this code 44 on my 1994 Chevy blazer. It is telling you that your oxygen sensor is running lean. This code was generated due to a failing fuel pump and an exaust leak forward of the oxygen sensor. Once i tightened my headers and replaced my fuel pump the error went away. if the oil pressure sensor is not hooked up the pump will not run make sure whether it needs sensor for light or gauge cause it matters on the computer controled car

Replace the fuel pump relay. I had this problem also, before I replaced it I wanted to look at it, and when I did, there was mud stuffed into it, I assume it was from bee's that use mud for nesting. I cleaned the dirt out and my fuel pump problem went away

your distributor usually just connects to your oil pump to help circulate oil around the engine, if your fuel pump went bad at the same time it might just be a coincidence or your bein ripped off.
