on the side of the gearbox, there is a levelling screw, that determines the amount of oil
Its on passenger side near the firewall its a screw on hope you find it
With bike level, unscrew dipstick from tranny, wipe clean, reinsert but do not screw in, remove and check level on stick.
Start the engine and let it run for 3 or 4 minutes. Then, shut the engine down and remove the oil filler cap on the oil tank. The cap has the dipstick attached to it. Insert the dipstick down in the oil tank but don't screw it in. The oil level should be between the two marks.
The 1200 has a dip stick near the the oil fil cap. Check it while the bike is on the center stand. After unscrewing the dipstick and wiping it off you check the oil level without screwing the dipstick back in. Simply put the dipstick in the hole, remove and check. After verifying the proper oil level, then screw the dipstick back into the engine block
Have the bike level. Take out the dipstick and wipe it off. Put the dipstick back in to the threads but don't screw it in. Check the level on the side of the stick, the oil should be between the low and high marks.
What do you mean by settings? If your mean the air/fuel ratio turn the screw all the way in then turn out about 1/4 turn out this will get you close to where you need to be.
An automatic transmission has a screw-in type dipstick under the battery and its a real pain to get to. First, locate it and clean it and the surrounding area off any dirt so that it doesn't get into the trans when you're ready to check the trans fluid level. Run the engine at idle, select each gear position pausing for several seconds in each detent, then shut off the motor once you get back to park. Wriggle your arm down to the dipstick, unscrew it, wipe it off and put it back into the trans but DO NOT SCREW IT BACK IN. Remove it and look at the fluid level. The fluid should be in the "cross hatched" area on the dipstick. You're going to need a funnel with a long tube on it to add any fluid. DON'T OVERFILL IT.
Let dipstick threads rest on top of tube, rotate cap COUNTER clockwise until it "clicks" or drop into the thread lead...then pull straight out to do reading.
There is a screw-in plug on the side of the transmission. Saturn transmissions do not have a dipstick since they are supposed to be a "sealed" unit.
The "dipstick" is similar to those found on a lawn mower...attached inside a screw cap located at the bottom of the engine near the battery.
well, let me see. If you have a manual transmission, you will not have a transmission fluid dipstick. Instead, there is a feel hole that can be accessed by removing a screw of sort somewhere below the tranny. You can stick your finger in there and feel the level.
