Hey,
I'm guessing you're in IB, TOK?
Haha, you have to look at this objectively, in what ways to we learn about humanity from scientific psychology and novels? Scientific psychology attempts to put a logical reasoning behind human personality/life, whereas novels are just depictions, mirrors, a reflection if you will of humanity.
G'luck.

I have to disagree.
Personally, I believe that novels can and do offer so much in terms of understanding human mind. Usually textbooks tell us what psychology is whereas novels 'show' us how it functions. I think the impact and its applicability of novels are greater than scientific papers. The novel 'Somewhere carnal over 40 winks' is an excellent example. It illustrates how our subconscious and intuition govern our decision making and behaviors through the characters' actions in unusual circumstances.
