No, November is not too late to spray goat's head weeds in the Southern Hemisphere even though it is too late in the Northern Hemisphere. The hairy-leaved, yellow-petaled plant in question (Tribulus terrestris) must be controlled during the plant's active growing season. Treatment schedules therefore need to be carried out during the spring and summer months in the annual's native ranges of Africa, Asia, Australia and Europe.

How I can control weeds?

How to control weeds When you have a lawn it is of prime importance to maintain it. You must mow it, water it and also add fertilizer in order to have healthy grass. In case you neglect any of these it won't take long for weeds to grow and spoil your garden's good looks. In case your lawn has a threat from weeds you need to control it. Remove bigger plants of weeds before they flower Weeds spread through their seeds most often. Therefore, when you remove them at early stages you will eliminate the possibility of their spreading through seeds. Dandelion is one of the common weeds that could be eliminated this way. Apply weedicide to remove small weeds There are commercial weedicides that will destroy weeds in your lawn without harming its grass. Since there are granular and liquid types of weedicides you need to choose the right one and apply according to instructions appearing on the label. If you add too much, grass also could die. Applying too little will not be effective in controlling weeds. Cutting the grass to control weeds Cut your grass regularly and cut them to a height of 2.5 inches. In case you cut it to a lesser height it is easier for the weeds to grow. Watering Watering should be done two or three times a week depending on the weather. When you water, do that to the extent that roots also get enough of it. leaving an empty tuna can in the middle of your lawn and stopping watering when the can is full is a good way to do that. Fertilizing It is necessary to fertilize most gardens three or four times a year. Choose the appropriate fertilizer for the variety of grass you have in your lawn. When you do so, grass will grow better than weeds and that also will help eliminate weeds.

When performing work on your lawn, it is wise to join together tasks that can be done at the same time. For example you can aerate your lawn as well as apply lime at the same time. Finish the job with raking away dead clippings and dirt clods from aeration. Enrich the grass by applying fertilizer or herbicides according to product directions. Water your lawn well when in need and adjust for drought. When the lawn is in need of cutting, be sure to cut at least a 1/3 of the lawn's length with a sharp bladed mower. I live in Nova Scotia Canada need to know whats the best fertilizer to use on my lawn in the spring summer fall in the spring id like to have a something to help control weeds and in summer insects?

Generally speaking Nova Scotia soil is acidic (around 5.5 Ph) so you want to put down some lime to help raise it to around 6.5 to 7 for most grasses this is ideal. It will also help with fleas and ticks and thirdly it will help green up your lawn. Also a fertilizer like weed and feed in early spring can help control those pesky weeds early April is ideal when your grass is about 50 percent green it won't be as effective if u apply it when the weeds are growing strong also apply it when the grass is a bit damp for absorption. A good fertilizer for spring or fall in particular (fall being the best time to fertilize as u get fall and spring benefits) would be a turf builder mix some thing with some nitrogen even more acid and almost as much Polate or potassium a good dry slow release mix is best apply before a day of light rain for absorption. Remember although nitrogen is good for grass if u put a strong mix of Nitrogen and not much else your grass will grow fast yes but it will also make it weaker and more susceptible to disease and pests its only a quick fix. Nitrogen-targets foliage PAcid-targets roots Polate or potassium -targets overall health . Also look into aerating ur lawn in spring to help with air and water circulation a compacted lawn is more inviting to weeds you can also put down your lime at the same time for better absorption I can go on and on but I won't hope that info isn't too jumbled.
