Yes. You don't need to use all those ingredients either.

Make a batter by beating the eggs, then adding the flour and then the milk. Stir in sliced onion (in rings).

Fry individual rings on each side in medium-hot oil or butter till browned and the onion softened.

You can add to the flour any herbs or spices you think will go well with the onion.

Different recipes will use one or both. Typically one of two methods is used to batter items for deep frying.

One uses an different wet and dry mixes. A beaten egg mixture, seasoned flour and or seasoned bread crumbs. First the onions are dipped into the egg mixture as an adhesive for a flour or crumb mix. They are then coated. Some recipes use only one coating. Others will first coat in egg, then flour, then egg, and last a bread crumb mix for extra crispness.

Other methods use a liquid batter to flavor and coat the onions in one step.

The batter my family uses: 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup dried Parmesan cheese, 1/2 tsp baking powder, salt and pepper, a bottle of your favorite beer

Optional: 1/2 tsp cayenne, or dried parsley, 1/2 panko bread crumbs and another 1/4 beer.

Mix dry ingredients together, add enough beer to form a thick batter. Dip onions into mixture, fry right away.
