It really depends on how often you use flea or worming treatment on your cat. Generally speaking, you only need to worm twice a year if it is an adult cat, and some flea treatments advise to use their treatments once a month, although some owners will only use flea treatments once every couple of months.

Essentially, it doesn't really matter what treatment you use first on your cat.

Can you worm and flea a cat at the same time?

Depending on how old your cat is, you can use Frontline, which I would recommend. You could also use Revolution. There is a worming medicine, that is given orally. Frontline is also given orally. Revolution, however, is treated by squirting it right in between the cat's shoulder blades. With Revolution you do not have to worry about the cat licking it off themselves, it will not harm them in any way. For De-worming, you can get it at the vet, or at an animal shelter.

What do you need to get for when your cat is going to have kittens?

Some things that kittens need are water, obviously. They also need food. Good quality food that has lots of good meat sources and no grains/cereals help kittens grow and develop. Cat biscuits are not really a requirement but ideal for young kittens to nibble on if you are out of the house most of the day. Biscuits are often full of grains such as corn, wheat and sugars and soy which do not provide any goodness to a cat. Young kittens usually get fed three to five times a day - but when they get older they can get fed two times a day. Also when your kitten is very small it won't want to eat chunky meat, so it is best to mash it up with a fork. If you are buying dry food to suppliment their meat diet, make sure to get kitten biscuits, not adult cat biscuits - kitten biscuits are more suited to a kitten's small mouth. A kitten will also need alot of love, especially on its first few nights. It will probably cry in the night if it isn't sleeping on your bed. If you can't play with it in the day, you will want to get it a few cat toys, as kittens are very playful. Kittens - and cats - need to get de-flead and de-wormed regularly. About once a month for a kitten. Go to your local vet for flea and worm tablets or liquid. The liquid stuff works very well, so I recommend you buying that. Sometimes you can get de-flea and de-worm liquid in one which is very easy. The vet will tell you how to use it. It will also need to be neutered or spayed before 6 months old. If you take it for a complete check-up to the vet, the vet will tell you when it needs to be neutered or spayed, unless it's already been done. It will also tell you everything about the de-flea/worming and anything else you need to know. It may be healthier for young kittens to have the powder de-flea stuff instead of the liquid as it isn't so poisonous and won't get into your kittens bloodstream. Good luck with your new kitten!

When do i de-worm my 10 week old German shepherd?

First you need to determine if your dog has worms or not. Take a fresh fecal sample in to your vet and they can check for the presence of any parisites and then give you some medication to de-worm your dog against the type of worms he/she has.

What kind of worms come through a cats skin Tiny white and seem to die outside of the cat they dry out and form a mound of dead bugs that take on the consistancy of cornstarch sounds crazy?

If it looks like pieces of rice, your cat has worms. The do not come through the skin. Instead a segment breaks off when the cat has a bowel movement. It will look like tiny bits of white rice in the stool. If they are "all over" your house, I would bet the cat is also butt-scooting sometimes on carpets because their rear itches. Or the cat's belly is SO heavily full pieces break off, stick to fur around the anus, finally drop off, and dry out. You cat can look healthy and eat like crazy. Or the cat can eat a lot but still appear skinny. Many kittens get worms shorty after their birth if the mom has worms. Worms go together with fleas.I would take a Kleenex, pick up a pile of the dead and put it in a zip lock baggie. In a 2nd zip lock baggie, put several examples of a recent bowel movement. Take the samples and the cat to the vet. The vet can quickly identify the type of worm. The vet will administer a 1-dose liquid de-wormer, orally, then will apply the first dose of Frontline flea med. The vet can also decide if the cat needs a steroid shot for itching, and if it needs an antibiotic. It is REALLY important to get the cat treated! Worms are "eating" all food the cat eats. The cat gets little nutrition. A cat whose belly/abdomen is full of worms can get very ill very fast. Much better to pay a vet during work hours, than pay an emergency vet after hours. You'll save yourself hundreds of dollars in vet costs. Plus, if you treat now, you'll buy less food in the long run. After the cat gets treated---important---THROW OUT ALL USED LITTER! Second, clean up ALL items through your house that look like dry worms. If you vacuum, throw out the vac cleaner bag immediately-- fleas can keep multiplying there. You will need to bomb your house for fleas. If you don't, a flea could get back on the cat... the cat bites where the flea is biting him.. the cat swallows part of the flea and flea eggs... the ingested flea eggs turns into a worm that starts growing and growing.

What do you do if your cat has scabs around his eyes and ears?

The cat most likely has fleas and ear mites which causes scratching. Because cats have sharp nails, they tear their skin from scratching. Healing wounds and scratches form scars. You can either take the cat to the vet or do a simple "test" at home. To do the "test", buy a flea comb. Put your cat on a white sheet on the floor. Comb your cat, looking at the comb as you slowly drag it through and out of the fur. If a flea is on the comb, press your thumb nail against the flea until you feel and hear a "pop" sound. You will notice a slight amount of blood, because fleas drink blood from the host and when you hear the "pop" sound you have broken the flea's body. If you do not see any fleas, the final part of the test is to set the cat to the side and look for small bits of black "dirt". This "dirt" is actually flea excrement (poop) which the fleas leave all over your cat and which drops all over your house. Flea excrement contains microscopic flea eggs which hatch, jump to a warm host, and begin the life cycle all over again. Because cats use their mouths and teeth to bite itchy places on their skin, they ingest some of the flea excrement that contains eggs. In the intestines, these eggs hatch and become worms. Additionally, cats with fleas almost certainly have ear mites. Use a flashlight and look down into the cat's ears until you see the area with folds. The entire ear canal should be a healthy pink. If you see black "crud", that is mite excrement. Mites are microscopic and live in that crud. You will need mite medication to kill the mites. A vet will do the first application and show you how to do it. So, your pet will need a flea application, mite medication, and de-worming med. If you do not know what to buy, you can ask at your local pet shop or ask a vet. Most flea applications, like Frontline (available online) will last 1 to 3 months if the cat is strictly an indoor cat. Now, products like Frontline prevent ear mites. Shops also sell mite medications. But the best, first course of action is to take your cat to a vet to verify that the cat has fleas and mites (most vets assume if the cat has fleas, the cat WILL have worms too). You will need to buy house flea treatments and remove your cat or other animals, children, and adults from the house for many hours. Set off the flea "bombs" and exit the house with all doors and windows closed. If the house is infested, you may need to re-bomb another time, several weeks later when the next eggs hatch into babies and look for a warm host.
