Yes! yes they do! in zoos, they are treated well and have enough room for the animals to move around. Animals live longer in zoos, too. that is because they are given nourishment and care. zoos cure the sick animals, and they save the exinct! if there was an exinct animal, the zoos that still own that animal can breed and make more of its kind! So zoos do more good than harm!
One view-No! zoos help the animals. Animals in the zoo lives longer then in the wild.
Other views- Animals generally will live longer in zoos because they don't have the natural predators and diseases they have in the wild. And they have caretakers and veterinarians to care for them. They do have limited space to exercise so that cannot be as good as running in the wild. A new study says that elephants do Not live longer in captivity. That the elephants in the wild live twice as long as those in zoos.
Their mental state is another factor to consider. They are individuals even in a pack society and have emotions similar to humans, if not the same with some emotions and animals. So if taken from the wild to a zoo, an animal may become distraught by the separation from it's pack and or environment and not do well physically. They can be and are mistreated by some staff but more often by customers of the zoos.
Sanctuaries are probably a better alternative for most animals in a zoo. The larger the land of a zoo, the better. Watching and learning about them from T.V. shows, books and magazines is probably better than peering at them through fences and over walls.

Other view-
Animals all over the world are being trapped in a cage with no exercise or fun. Sure they put toys in the cage but they wont really let the animals interfere with other animals. That is an example of animal cruelty. Think of it as a puppy mill but with other animals like lions and tigers and bears. Winnie the pooh story; read it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TRUTH:
Yes, a majority of animals in zoos live half than their normal life expectancy out in the wild! The chemicals used to clean their cages do a lot of harm to them physically and the stress from being in such an unnatural habitat commonly makes the animal go insane and some may even attempt suicide!
Other view: Humanity is taking over, ruining, and killing the rain forests and other natural habitats. Where else can animals be safe from human destruction? Zoos are indeed necessary for this reason: Human civilization is destroying their homes.
Zoos do do more harm than good. Animals are treted creuy and unfairly. For example the elephant Dunda was taken to a zoo and beaten by zookeepers.
animals can not be hunted
Yes! Zoos are more for people than animals. The animals are kept on display so the kids can learn more about them.
That's kind of a biased way of phrasing the question. Some animals in some zoos do begin to exhibit behavioral disorders. Good zoos work hard to provide the animals with a comfortable, engaging environment to minimize the chances of this happening, but not all zoos are good zoos and some animals are more sensitive than others.
Both, they harm them by taking them out of their natural habitat, but protect them from predators.
it's your opion if they do or don't
Zoos are good if they aren't hurting the animals and they are in good living conditions.
so the animal doesn't harm anyone
Less than 5000 in the wild, more than twice that in zoos.
the animals are confined to a small space and some whales are taken out of their pods unwillingly.
Some zoos are perhaps owned and operated by Jewish people, but Jews wouldn't have more or fewer zoos than other groups of people. Some zoos may be owned and operated by Christians, Muslims, Hindus etc., as well.
Yes, there are giant pandas in zoos. China loans its Pandas for 4 years and then they are returned.
There are many good zoos in the world.
