For 1987 - 1996 Dakota trucks : It is recommended that bolt and hole threads first be chased with appropriate taps and dies (dirty or damaged threads can affect torque readings). Also recommended is to coat the bolt threads with non-hardening sealant such as Permatex no. 2 or similar product. Install the all of the bolts finger tight to start. Then tighten in several steps to 50 ft-lbs in the following pattern (from 1 to 8 in order) --- 7 - 3 - 1 - 5 (top row) 8 - 4 - 2 - 6 (bottom row) Now repeat the same tightening sequence and pattern in several more steps to 105 ft-lbs to finish the job.
39 ft pound. 14/27/39. In stages.
Torque settings: Phase 1. 29ft/lb or 39 Newton Meter 2. 54 73 3. 72 98
Front of driver side head.
FIRST... Make sure you have the heads magna-fluxed and if no cracks then have them surfaced. SECOND... make sure you use NEW head bolts. make sure decks are clean and free of any oil. put head gasket on noting the up designation on the head gasket. tighten new bolts in sequence to 35-39 ft lbs. Loosen all bolts in sequence a full 360* turn. tighten bolts to 20-24 ft/lbs, then tighten bolts an additional 85-95* then repeat last step again an ADDITIONAL 85-95* 6 4 2 8 5 1 3 7 TORQUE SEQUENCE
Torque settings are , for the head bolts : These are done in three stages ... One... 39 - 44 nm Two ... 54 - 59 nm... Three.... tighten then to 90 degrees ( angle setting )
Basically tighten all the bolts from the middle of the block working your way out. 1st - 39-44 nm 2nd - 54-59 nm 3rd - turn exhaust side cylinder head bolts 90 degrees clockwise
The cylinder head bolt torque for Nissan TD 27 is what tightens all bolts from the middle of the block to the outside. The first is a 39-44 nm, second is 54-59 nm and the third is turning the exhaust side cylinder head bolts at a 90 degrees going clockwise.
torque 39 nm (29 ft-lb) then 90 degrees then another 90 degrees 2 small bolts at front 21 nm (15 ft-lb)

I have done six gasket jobs on the 3.8. I did not have to have any of these heads resurfaced, the were just bad gaskets right from the start.Use your search engine, type in torque specs 3.8, then choose the first one on the list . All ford mustangs 3.8 specs. these are the specs i used on all eight cars and all worked fine. This is basically the same motor but turned to drive rear wheels instead of the front.Torque sequence:------------6 4 2 85 1 3 7------------Step 1: Torque from 47-53 Nm (35 to 39 Ft/Lbs)Step 2: Back off all bolts 360Step 3: Torque from 27 -33NM (20 to 24 Ft/Lbs)Step 4: Torque rotate 85-95Step 5: Torque rotate additional 85-95See "Related Links" for example of head bolt torque specifications - Autozone's free, online Chiltons Manual

If you mean: 34 39 24 ... then the nth term is 39-5n and so the 100th term = -461
